This is 40 (weeks)

And so our due date has been and gone. And despite the warnings to not expect anything from the day I couldn't help but feel a little deflated as the day came and went. I've spent the past eight months eagerly counting down (or should that be up?) to the 40th week of pregnancy. My life has been marked by it's corresponding pregnancy week. At each yoga class we introduce ourselves and tell everyone how many weeks along we are. Each Sunday is greeted by an e-mail from some baby website I signed up to yonks ago - "Congratulations, you're in your x week! This week the baby is the size of a...insert appropriate vegetable here". And I religiously read what changes are happening to me and the babs each week in my baby book, 'What to expect when you're expecting'. So it's little wonder that with 9th November firmly stamped in my head as the big day it would be somewhat of an anticlimax if nothing happened. I think I read somewhere that only 5% of women actually give birth on their due's more like a two week window either side. And so i'm now officially 'late' or 'overdue' like a forgotten library book and living in a weird sort of limbo. Feeling frustrated and trying to enjoy these last days of freedom but just wanting the next phase to start already! My poor mother had to wait two weeks for me to arrive. Let's hope it's not that long.

We took these pics in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, one of our favourite spots just 1 1/2 hours outside DC. We just missed the peak fall colours but it was lovely to get out of the city and soak up some crisp fall country air.
